What is psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy? Psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy is a therapy practice that utilizes the assistance of psychedelic substances to shift perception, dissolve problematic patterns, and support deep rooted change. Clinical research investigating the healing properties of psychedelics has been in progress since the 1940’s with promising results indicating possible resolution of such struggles as depression, posttraumatic stress disorder, addictions, and various forms of anxiety.
Currently in the US most psychedelic are not available for legal use.
Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy: Ketamine is a medication that has been used for decades in surgical procedures as an anesthetic. In recent decades research into alternative uses of Ketamine has demonstrated its effectiveness is treating such struggles as major depressive disorder, substance abuse, anxiety, posttraumatic stress disorder, and existential struggles around meaning and spiritual awakening.
Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy uses the therapeutic effects of Ketamine alongside psychotherapy to enhance insight and expand possibilities for healing. Psychotherapy is an essential component to Ketamine treatment as emphasis on preparation, support during the experience, and subsequent integration is key to generating insight and weaving the wisdom gained into daily living.
I currently offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy in collaboration with a licensed medical prescriber.
MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy: MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy is currently in the final stages of FDA approval and is considered a breakthrough treatment for complex Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Legal use of this treatment through designated expanded access sites is expected in the near future. I am in the process of becoming a MAPS trained clinician for this treatment method and upon legalization will be offering MDMA-Assisted Psychotherapy.
Psychedelic Integration: The use of psychedelics can be mind expanding in ways that enhance our understanding of ourself, others and the world. They can also open us up to unfamiliar and even overwhelming feelings and experiences. Psychotherapy is an excellent space to receive support, process, and digest what can often feel to be numinous and ineffable experiences.
While I do not facilitate the illegal use of any substance, I do provide a knowledgeable container in which I can help you explore your experiences, find valuable insight, and utilize the wisdom gained in your every day living.
